European Day of Parks Activities in four regions




Open activities organized by ECO NORD Forum of Shkoder on European Day of Parks
May 24, 2017- Shkoder city celebrated the European Day of Parks with open activities organized by ECO NORD Forum organizations of Shkoder Region (NRD, GO2, Green Center, Creative City, Albanian Skadar Lake Forum) in the beautiful surroundings of Buna River. The activity was attended by many citizens, including students of Shkodra University, environmental NGOs as well as Albanian Local Capacity Development Foundation (ALCDF) representatives. Green Centre director, Anila Neziri gave an interview to the local television TV 1 pinpointing that one of the main components of ECO NORD project is to raise awareness on the paramount importance of environmental protection. She stressed that environment matters since Earth is the only home that humans have and it provides air, food and other needs.  Prof. Aurora Dibra, lecturer, department of Biology at Luigj Gurakuqi University talked on the importance of Protected Zones, especially on that of Shkodra Lake, as well as the promotion of Eco-friendly tourism in Albania, which is still in embryonic stage. The organizers distributed informative material to the participants, and at the end the students engaged in cleaning part of the surroundings. The event was covered by TV1 and Ora News televisions. The European Day of Parks is a commemorative day of Protected Areas across Europe that was launched in 1999 by the EUROPARC Federation to celebrate Protected Areas across Europe. The celebrations were organized by Eco Nord Project, financed by EU and implemented by ALCDF.

Kune Vaini Lagoon -scene of celebrations to commemorate the European Day of Parks
May 24, 2017- The European Day of Parks celebrations gathered participants from the Agency of Protected Zones, Civil Society Organizations, Lezha municipality representatives as well as students in the beautiful landscape of Kune Vaini lagoon situated in Lezha region to raise the profile and value of protected areas. Director of Albanian Local Capacity Development Foundation (ALCDF), Lindita Manga attended the celebrations and pinpointed the important role played by Eco Nord Forum to raise awareness on issues regarding the importance of Protected Areas considered fundamental for the protection of our natural heritage. This region is particularly vulnerable due to biodiversity loss, thus increasing the vulnerability of communities living near the Kune-Vaini Lagoon system. The European Day of Parks is a commemorative day of Protected Areas across Europe that was launched in 1999 by the EUROPARC Federation to celebrate Protected Areas across Europe. The activity was covered by local TV station Antena 1 and was published in social networks. The celebrations were organized by Eco Nord Project, financed by EU and implemented by ALCDF.

Open activities at Korab Koritnik National Park to commemorate European Day of Parks
May 24, 2017- Eco Nord Forum organizations of Dibra region organized open activities to commemorate the European Day of Parks in the beautiful surroundings of Korab-Koritnik National Park. The activities were attended by business, Protected Zones and Albanian Local Capacity Foundation (ALCDF) representatives as well as school children. The event was covered by local media. Korab-Kortnik National Park is situated in Korab, the highest mountain in Albania which is considered very rich in biodiversity. The European Day of Parks is a commemorative day of Protected Areas across Europe that was launched in 1999 by the EUROPARC Federation to celebrate Protected Areas across Europe. The celebrations were organized by Eco Nord Project, financed by EU and implemented by ALCDF.

Beautiful surroundings of Kukes main tourists attractions served as background for open activities to commemorate European Day of Parks
May 24, 2017- Eco Nord Forum organizations of Kukes region organized open activities to commemorate the European Day of Parks. Three breathtaking venues served as background to held commemorative activities. School children gathered near Fierza lake to attend open-lecturers on the importance of Protected Areas and Eco-Tourism. This event was attended by representatives of the municipality, civil society and Albanian Local Capacity Foundation (ALCDF). A similar activity was organized also in Has. Celebrations were held in Shishtavec village to mark the beginning of tourism season. Members of AgroPuka attended these activities.
